Tomato Catsup
6 quarts tomatoes 1/2 cup brown sugar 3 tablespoons salt 11/2 tablespoons black pepper 1/2 tablespoon cloves 2 tablespoons cinnamon 1 tablespoon allspice 1 1/4 cups vinegar
Remove stems from tomatoes; cut into small pieces. Put all ingredients together in a pot and allow to simmer slowly until cooked down to one-half. This will take about four hours. Stir ocasionally to keep from burning. strain and pour into sterilized jars and seal.
