Michele’s Famous Brown Bread
Mix in a large bowl: 1T salt 2 T white sugar – or 1/3 cup maple syrup ½ cup molasses 1/3 cup oats 1/3 cup all bran cereal 1/3 cup flax seed 1/3 cup golden raisins Glob of butter (the recipe calls for 2 T of shortening or butter) Add to this 2 cups boiling water. Allow to cool down a little bit, then add 1-2 cups of flour
In another cereal bowl add luke warm water (90-100 degrees) A few drops of molasses or maple syrup 2 T of yeast Let rise
Blend in the yeast mixture and finish adding the flour (approximately 2-3 cups). Knead and let stand until double in size. Knock down buy kneading and then form into loaf sizes, let rise again.
Bake for 15-20 minutes in 350 degree oven or until cooked (this depends upon the size of the loaves).
