.........................Groomer Sponsor Contact Letter

The Crossburn Snowmobile Club

The Crossburn Snowmobile Club maintains approx 330km of groomed trails in the counties of Kings, Lunenburg, and Annapolis. From New Germany to Middleton and into East Dalhousie.

We are a non profit Club in good standing with the Snowmobile Association of Nova Scotia (SANS).

While monies from trail passes help pay for fuel on the groomers during our season, the monies are short of the actual expenses. Maintenance is 100% club responsibility.

We are inviting your business to join in becoming a Grooming Sponsor. Our Grooming fleet consists of two machines a Massey Ferguson tractor and a Bombi.

As a Grooming Sponsor we ask for a $100 donation, in return the Club will do all we can do to support and promote your business, this will include a sign at two key points on our trail system as well as placement and links on our web page. http://www.tallships.ca/crossburn/index.htm

A member of our club will call on your business in the coming weeks to talk more about this opportunity. If you wish to participate now please mail in you completed form and check payable to The Crossburn Snowmobile Club.

Thank You for your time

To whom it may concern;

The Crossburn Snowmobile Club maintains 330 km of groomed snowmobile trails on a regular basis and an additional 40 – 50 km when snow conditions permit. Our goal is to provide trails that are both safe and enjoyable by all users.

Our club holds two annual events to raise fund for club activities:

            1. Invitational Potluck Supper and Chinese Auction (October/November each year)

            2. Poker Run each February each year

Money raise helps us maintain two groomers and weekly trail maintenance. Operating costs of insurance, information check points and other clerical expenses are also covered through fundraising.

Each year we accept donations of product or gift certificates to give as prizes at these events.

Please provide us with a business card so we can recognize your donation on the club web site. www.tallships.ca/crossburn

Thank you for taking the time to consider our request.

.............................................Goomer Driver Resposibilities

Crossburn Snowmobile Club Groomer Driver Responsibilities

  1. The safety of the operator must be paramount at all times, no groomer shall be operated on Lakes or River crossings. No operator shall consume alcohol while operating the equipment or previous to a shift. All driving shifts shall be of a reasonable length not to exceed 12 hours.
  1. The safety of the equipment must be considered at all times, no groomer equipment shall operate if it will cause damage to the machine or drag. The groomer shall not operate off a prescribed trail. The operator must anticipate all maneuvers and not to put yourself in a position that will or could put the driver or equipment in danger.
  1. If a groomer runs off the trail, gets hung up, or breaks down in such a way that moving the equipment will cause damage, the operator should shut the unit down and take a good look at the situation. Try and think of more than one way to solve the problem, this may lead to a better plan, or call for help, two head are better than one. Remember that in a short season such as ours it is better to play it safe than to have a groomer broken down for any length of time. Horse Power is not always the answer.
  2. When a break down occurs a panel shall meet to determine how this problem can be avoided, not to assign blame. This panel will be made up of the Grooming Coordinator, the driver involved and another driver and one outside interest.
  3. Before each shift, do a walk around the machine, check for problems, fill out pre-shift Check List. Appendix A
  4. End of shift, the driver is responsible to fill in the Shut Down Checklist and all other appropriate paper work, log books. Appendix B
  5. If a operator comes upon an accident scene, or is involved in an accident. Presume that the sit is UNSAFE. If the accident involved the groomer, do not move equipment, secure the scene and assess the needs of those involved. Call for help. If the groomer was not involved move the groomer out of the way in a visible area, place warning devices on the trail, assess the needs of those involved. Call for help. Remember to Document everything. Appendix C
